Sedan cars are an epitome of exclusive style in our country. A sedan is a vehicle body style that has front and rear seats with a closed cabin in a three box structure. From the house of the country’s favourite automaker Maruti, we have the very popular Swift Dzire and the new comer Ciaz sedans. While both sedans score equally on mileage and performance part, Ciaz is no doubt the more good looking and more spacious car among the two. However Ciaz is almost Rs 2 lakhs costlier than Dzire.
The domestic carmaker Tata also has some sedans fitting into this category. Indigo eCs is one of the most basic sedans in the market and one get the most high end model at Rs 6.17 lakhs. Manza, at around Rs 5.92 lakhs is the second generation of the Indigo which is more stylish and contemporary than the original one. However the recently launched Zest wins over these two sedans in terms of looks, efficiency, quality and features.
Hyundai Xcent is another one with competitive pricing in this segment. This sub four meter sedan is built with a smart engine offering optimum performance along with high fuel economy. Prices for the Xcent start at Rs 4.66 lakhs which goes up to Rs 7.38 lakhs. The latest Verna Fluidic, loaded with the latest technology and advanced features is a remarkably good sedan at Rs 9 lakhs.
We have 2 old sedans from Honda – the City and Amaze. The revised Honda City diesel prices start from Rs 8.62 lakhs and the City Automatic costs Rs 9.49 lakhs. Amaze has a total of 12 variants available and they fall in the price range of Rs 5 to Rs 8 lakhs.
Ford Fiesta is a good sedan with 8 variants ranging from Rs 8.23 lakhs to Rs 10.42 lakhs. Ford Classic is just an enhanced version of the Fiesta, but it costs much lesser than the original version. The base variant is available at just Rs 5.58 lakhs and the top end comes at Rs 7.68 lakhs.
India’s own automaker Mahindra has the Verito sedan in this segment which falls in a price range of Rs 6.67 to 7.77 lakhs. Verito remains true to the customer by offering superb performance and efficiency. Some of the other well-known foreign cars here fitting in this budget are the Fiat Linea, Toyota Etios, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, Renault Scala and Volkswagen Vento.
